The rise in international gold prices has directly impacted the Nepali market. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of gold today has reached Rs. 205,900 per tola, the highest ever recorded.
On Monday, gold was traded at Rs. 205,300 per tola, meaning the price increased by Rs. 600 per tola today. Similarly, the price of silver rose by Rs. 15 per tola, reaching Rs. 2,485.
Former president of the Federation, Manik Ratna Shakya, said that the surge in prices is not due to Nepali consumer demand but rather the fluctuations in global politics and the international economy.
According to international media, gold is currently being traded at USD 3,494 per ounce in the global market.
