
The AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers kick off today, with Nepal set to play its first match against host Tajikistan at the Pamir Stadium in Dushanbe on Wednesday.
The Nepal vs. Tajikistan match will begin at 8:15 PM Nepal Time. Placed in Group ‘K’, Nepal will also face the Philippines and Syria, with games against Syria on September 6 and the Philippines on September 9.
The team is led by head coach Nabin Neupane. Goalkeepers include Krisal Moktan, Amit Tamata, and Bishal KC. Defenders are Vivek Gurung, Bishal Nepali, Lahan Subba, Nigma Lama, Ram Thapa, Shankar Tharu, and Simant Thapa.
Midfielders include captain Ayush Ghalan, Abhishek Santan, Aaron Thapa, Niraj Karki, Dipesh Gurung, Kritis Ratna Chhunjyu, Pujan Thapa, Sanjiv Lama, Santosh Khatri, Sujan Magar, and Sumit Shrestha. Forwards are Nirajan Dhami and Rohan Khadki.
Ayush Ghalan, who has previously captained the national team, will lead the U-23 squad as captain.
