
On Bhadra 22 (Sunday), Bagmati Province has declared a public holiday in three districts: Chitwan, Makwanpur, and Dhading.
The holiday is on the occasion of Chhonam (Nwagi), the national festival of the Chepang community. The Chepang people celebrate Nwagi as an important cultural festival.
Chepang communities reside in Chitwan, Makwanpur, and Dhading districts of Bagmati Province. According to the 2078 B.S. census, the Chepang population in Nepal is 84,364. They mainly inhabit western Makwanpur, northern Chitwan, and southern Dhading.
