
The Nepal Communist Party (UML) has begun its Second Statute Congress today, with party chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli set to inaugurate the event.
According to Rajendra Gautam, head of the party’s publicity department, the congress will include 2,026 representatives and 315 participants.
Heads of key central commissions—Keshav Badal (Discipline Commission), Dr. Pushpa Kandel (Accounts Commission), Dr. Vijay Subba (Election Commission), and Amritkumar Bohora (Central Advisory Council)—will present their respective reports, which will be followed by group discussions.
In his political report, Chairman Oli will analyze national and international developments, address current challenges, and outline the party’s work direction and responsibilities.
Earlier, the UML Secretariat meeting on Thursday approved the congress schedule. Following a 40-minute inaugural session, the congress will focus on document presentations starting today.
Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali stated that the meeting also decided to present a dissenting document by Standing Committee member Karn Thapa.
