
The closed session of the CPN (UML)’s second statute convention has started. During the opening, a mourning tune was played in memory of party founder Pushpa Lal Shrestha, the proponent of People’s Multiparty Democracy Madan Bhandari, the first elected communist Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari, and other martyrs.
Party Chair KP Sharma Oli presented the political report, while General Secretary Shankar Pokharel tabled the day’s agenda and code of conduct. Today, Vice-Chair Bishnu Prasad Paudel will present the proposal on statute amendments, and General Secretary Pokharel will submit the organizational report.
Similarly, reports will be presented by the heads of various party bodies: Keshav Bhadal from the Central Discipline Commission, Dr. Pushpa Kandel from the Central Audit Commission, Dr. Vijay Subba from the Central Election Commission, and Amrit Kumar Bohora from the Central Advisory Council. The session will conclude with Standing Committee member Karna Thapa submitting a dissenting opinion.
