The second statute convention of CPN-UML is concluding today at Sunrise Hall, Godavari, Lalitpur, after two days of discussions.
According to the party, deliberations on the documents presented at the convention have been completed across 10 discussion groups, formed on the basis of provinces, the Valley, and central structures. Representatives from Koshi, Sudurpaschim, Madhes, Karnali, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces discussed separately and have now started preparing reports.
On Sunday, group leaders will present their reports in the main convention hall. Suggestions and queries raised in the reports will be answered by Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, and if consensus cannot be reached on certain issues, decisions will be finalized through voting, said UML Central Publicity Department Chief Gautam.
He clarified that efforts are being made to incorporate as many suggestions as possible into a unified party statute, which will then be endorsed, marking the conclusion of the UML’s second statute convention.
At the convention, Chair Oli presented the political report, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel presented the organizational report, and Vice-Chair Bishnu Poudel presented the statute amendment report. Group discussions have also been held on reports from various councils.
The UML leadership has given special significance to Saturday’s deliberations and Sunday’s group presentations, viewing them as crucial steps in shaping the party’s organizational and political direction.
