Former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who was in custody for trial in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, escaped from the Sundhara-based Bhadrabandi Prison on Wednesday.
According to prison sources, there are currently only around 100 inmates in Bhadrabandi Prison. Rayamajhi, along with some other inmates, has gone out of contact, while a few have reportedly called the administration, assuring that they would return.
Earlier, inmates who escaped from Nakkhu Prison had vandalized the Central Jail. Likewise, after prisoners at Dillibazar Jail attempted to flee, the army was deployed for security.
