
KATHMANDU, Aug 6 (RSS): The entire country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, with heavy rainfall forecasted for Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division stated that the monsoon trough is located north of the average position, currently lying over the Tarai region of Nepal. As a result, most of the hilly regions including Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are experiencing widespread cloud cover, while other areas remain generally cloudy.
Light to moderate rainfall is being recorded at one or two places in Madhesh Province and a few places in other provinces. By Wednesday afternoon, most of the hilly areas of Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to remain mostly cloudy, with chances of moderate rainfall in some areas and light showers in a few others.
For tonight, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy across the country. Scattered moderate rain is expected in some parts of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, and at a few places in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces. A couple of places in Koshi Province may also receive heavy rainfall.
The Division has urged the public to remain alert due to the possible impacts on daily life, health, road, and air transportation in areas expecting heavy rainfall.
