Former President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has stated that the Gen-Z movement’s demand to curb corruption represents the collective aspiration of all Nepalis.
In a press statement issued on Friday, Yadav emphasized that while the demands raised by Gen-Z were legitimate, it is essential to investigate the causes and objectives behind the destruction that occurred in the country on Bhadra 23 and 24.
He said, “The youth movement called for an end to corruption, full freedom of expression, and accountable governance—fundamental and natural demands shared by all of us. However, it is crucial today to uncover the reality behind the destruction and devastation that took place in the name of the movement on those days, including its causes, objectives, and actors.”
Yadav also highlighted that everyone should take note of attempts to undermine the political system established by the 2006 People’s Movement and the 2015 Constitution of Nepal.
He urged responsible authorities and office-bearers not to delay in ending the political and administrative uncertainty created after the movement, ensuring the safety of every citizen’s life and property, and guiding the country back toward order and stability.
