Kathmandu — President Ram Chandra Paudel has dissolved the House of Representatives on the recommendation of newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
Immediately after assuming office, Prime Minister Karki tabled a proposal in her first cabinet meeting to dissolve Parliament. Acting on that recommendation, President Paudel set March 5 (Falgun 21) as the date for the next general election.
Karki was appointed Prime Minister under pressure from the Gen-Z movement. Soon after her appointment, she concluded that a fresh mandate was essential for political stability, leading to her decision to dissolve the House. With this move, the country now heads toward elections scheduled for March 5.
