
The government has announced that those who died during the Janji protests on September 23 and 24 will be declared martyrs. Prime Minister Sushila Karki, who assumed office on Sunday, signed the decision.
Each martyr’s family will receive NPR 1 million in relief. According to Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal, a total of 72 people lost their lives in the protests, including 59 demonstrators, 10 prisoners, and 3 security personnel.
Additionally, 134 demonstrators and 57 police officers were injured. Chief Secretary Aryal stated that injured individuals will receive free medical treatment, and the families of the deceased will be provided NPR 1 million in relief.
