The government has decided to bear the living expenses of families of those who died during the Gen Z protests while they are staying in Kathmandu.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki, speaking after assuming office on Sunday, said the government will also arrange transportation for those who wish to take the bodies of their loved ones back to their local areas.
“Right now, the families of the deceased are in the Kathmandu Valley. The government will cover their lodging, food, and related expenses,” said Prime Minister Karki. “If anyone wants to take the body back to their local area, transportation will also be arranged.”
She further added that those injured during the protests who fall under the category of persons with disabilities will be guaranteed continued medical treatment in the future.
“If they are later categorized as disabled, arrangements for long-term treatment will be made. That is what we have decided,” she stated.
