Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, has returned to party work. Following the Genji movement carried out by the youth on Bhadra 23–24, Prachanda had been under the security protection of the Nepali Army.
During the Genji movement on Bhadra 23, police repression in New Baneshwar, Kathmandu, and Itahari, Sunsari, resulted in the deaths of 19 people. The next day, Bhadra 24, Prachanda convened a meeting of opposition parties at Singha Durbar. However, as the protests intensified, the army rescued him from the location and provided security.
According to a senior leader of the Maoist Centre, Prachanda has returned to party activities as the situation has begun to normalize. The party has urged all leaders and cadres to work immediately as volunteers for the country and the people, maintaining high morale.
Prachanda is also preparing to inspect the party’s central office at Parisdanda, which was damaged by the protesters. Additionally, he is planning to convene an executive meeting in the coming days to review the recent political developments.
