A landslide has obstructed the Kodari section of the Arniko Highway, which connects to the Tatopani border point.
Following the disruption, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Kulman Ghising, directed the Department of Roads to immediately clear the route. After being alerted by the ward chair of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, Minister Ghising instructed Director General Vijay Jaisi via phone to deploy field teams if necessary to reopen the road.
With the Dashain festival approaching, more than 1,500 containers have been stranded on the Chinese side due to the closure, affecting industrialists, traders, and the general public.
The road had remained blocked since July 31 (Shrawan 18) and was briefly reopened on August 21 (Bhadra 5). However, the complexity and risks in the landslide-prone area have hindered repair works. According to the minister’s secretariat, structural measures are being prepared for a long-term solution.
