
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dev Raj Ghimire, and Deputy Speaker Indira Rana inspected the Parliament building in New Baneshwor today, which was damaged by fire during the ‘Jenji’ protests on September 8–9 (Bhadra 23–24).
After the inspection, Speaker Ghimire expressed sorrow over the damage to public property. “All Nepali citizens must bear responsibility for the state,” he said. He also emphasized that the interim government must address current issues and move forward.
According to Article 91 (6) (Ka) of the Constitution of Nepal, in the event of the dissolution of the House of Representatives, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker remain in office until the day before filing nominations for the next House election.
