
President Ramchandra Paudel has stated that the current Constitution has ended all forms of discrimination and oppression created by a centralized and unitary state, bringing Nepal’s ethnically, linguistically, religiously, culturally, and geographically diverse society under the umbrella of broad national unity.
In a message on the occasion of Constitution Day, the President expressed his best wishes, saying that the federal democratic republican system will inspire all citizens to unite in order to achieve lasting peace, good governance, development, and prosperity.
President Paudel noted that the Constitution envisions an egalitarian society based on social justice and aims to build a socialist-oriented economy. He emphasized the need to ensure equal access for all citizens to services and benefits guaranteed by the state, along with providing social security to the general public.
He called upon everyone to transform the spirit and essence of the Constitution into practice by dedicating mind, speech, and actions, and to continue honest and effective efforts from their respective capacities.
Highlighting Nepal’s abundant cultural and natural resources, President Paudel expressed confidence that by ending all forms of irregularities and ensuring proper management of water and energy resources through good governance, Nepal could soon achieve the status of a prosperous nation.
The Constitution also provides equal protection for the country’s unique multi-ethnic, multilingual, and multicultural structure across the Himalayas, hills, and Terai. He expressed the expectation that no one will disturb the mutual harmony, fraternity, and coexistence among Nepalis.
Constitution Day (National Day) is being observed today in remembrance and honor of the historic promulgation of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on Ashwin 3, 2072 BS. On this occasion, the President extended his greetings to all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad.
He paid heartfelt tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of the federal democratic republic. He also expressed respect and admiration for political party leaders who led various movements for the republic, and highly appreciated the contributions of ordinary citizens and political activists who participated in the democratic struggle.
