A landslide has occurred along the East–West Highway at Daunne, near Painsathi Mode of Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality–2, causing traffic obstruction, police reported.
Continuous rainfall for the past three days had already restricted vehicular movement to a single lane. With the fresh landslide, passengers have been left stranded.
According to DSP Madhu Nepal of the Nawalpur District Police Office, efforts are underway to clear the debris, but heavy rainfall and poor road conditions have made progress difficult. Authorities have urged travelers to use alternative routes.
In Daunne, the lack of proper drainage causes rainwater to flow directly over the highway, disrupting traffic every year. Locals complain that despite recurring problems, neither the Department of Roads nor the China State Corporation, which is responsible for road expansion, has shown concern in resolving the issue.
