The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has strongly condemned the incident in which CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet and his aides allegedly issued threats against journalist Tekman Shakya.
In its statement, the FNJ denounced the act as a serious assault on press freedom and urged authorities to immediately investigate the case and take legal action against those responsible. The federation also called on political leaders to respect journalists’ right to work without fear and to refrain from any behavior that intimidates or undermines the free press.
