
Four newly appointed ministers were sworn in today at a special ceremony held at the Presidential Office, Sheetal Niwas. Mahabir Pun, Jagadish Kharel, Anil Kumar Sinha, and Dr. Madan Pariyar took the oath of office and secrecy before the President.
Former Supreme Court Justice Anil Kumar Sinha has been entrusted with three key ministries: the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation; the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies; and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. The Law Ministry was previously overseen by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.
Jagadish Kharel, the news chief of Image TV, has been appointed Minister for Communications and Information Technology, while National Innovation Center chairman Mahabir Pun will lead the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
Similarly, agricultural expert Dr. Madan Pariyar has been assigned the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Livestock.
Earlier, former Additional Health Secretary Dr. Sangita Mishra had been recommended for the post of Health Minister, but Prime Minister Sushila Karki withdrew her name after learning that Mishra was under investigation by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on corruption charges.
