A dry landslide at Jawang Khola in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10, Dhading, has completely obstructed traffic on the Muglin–Kathmandu section of the Prithvi Highway.
According to the District Police Office, Dhading, the landslide—which occurred late last night—initially allowed for one-way traffic after partial clearance, but a subsequent larger slide forced a full closure of the road. Continuous rockfall has prevented immediate clearance efforts.
Vehicles and passengers traveling into and out of the Kathmandu Valley are stranded on both sides of the highway. Police have urged travelers and drivers to remain at safe locations, follow lane discipline, and wait patiently until the route can be cleared.
Just days earlier, a landslide at Tuin Khola on the Muglin–Narayangadh section had closed the road for over 40 hours, causing significant hardship for travelers. The latest blockage comes during the busy Dashain festival travel period, adding further difficulty for people heading home to celebrate.
