Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising held a courtesy meeting with UK Ambassador to Nepal Rob Fenn at the ministry in Singha Durbar. During the meeting, Ambassador Fenn congratulated the newly appointed minister and wished him a successful tenure.
The discussions focused on the long-standing Nepal–UK friendship, British support in the energy sector, investment opportunities in infrastructure development, measures to mitigate climate change, and areas of future cooperation.
Minister Ghising outlined the priorities of the government formed after the Gen-Z movement, highlighting reconstruction of damaged infrastructure, holding general elections, and ensuring good governance as key goals. He praised the UK’s contributions to Nepal’s economic development and noted the effectiveness of its support in establishing charging stations to promote the use of electric vehicles for a carbon-free Nepal.
He also sought UK assistance in implementing the public–private partnership (PPP) model in Nepal, promoting green hydrogen production, and conducting studies on the risks of glacial lake outbursts caused by climate change.
