The Nepali Congress has decided to withdraw its support from the Madhes Provincial Government.
The decision was made during a meeting of the party’s provincial parliamentary committee held on Wednesday.
The Madhes government is currently led by Satish Kumar Singh of the Janamat Party. Congress had four ministers in the provincial cabinet, and the party has already instructed them to resign.
Chief Minister Singh has been facing increased challenges due to internal disputes within the Janamat Party. Some lawmakers from Singh’s own party have started sitting in the opposition benches.
Given this situation, the Congress concluded that it would be inappropriate to remain in the government, said Krishna Yadav, president of the party’s Madhes provincial committee.
Congress is now preparing to form a new government under its own leadership in the province.
