
Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal, who also oversees the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, has stated that there is no possibility of abolishing the provincial structure.
Speaking briefly with journalists at Biratnagar Airport, Minister Khanal said the current government is functioning in accordance with the constitution and has no plans to eliminate provinces.
In response to a question, he also clarified that there has been no discussion on banning NPR 1,000 and 500 banknotes at present.
Regarding India’s reduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), Khanal said the matter is under study, and any necessary adjustments will be made if it is found to harm Nepal’s industries and businesses.
