The CPN (Maoist Centre) has decided to dissolve its Central Committee and form a Special General Convention Organizing Committee under the leadership of party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
According to party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota, the decision was made during a Standing Committee meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Paris Danda on Wednesday.
The proposal to dissolve the Central Committee and have Prachanda coordinate the new organizing committee will be presented to the Central Committee for approval.
Sapkota said the move aims to maintain party unity and adapt to the current political context.
The meeting also decided to propose a date for the Special General Convention, with Prachanda confirmed as the coordinator of the organizing committee, although Central Committee members will have the opportunity to express differing views.
Prachanda will present a political proposal at the Central Committee meeting, which will also allocate representatives by province and hold a full committee reporting session.
Additionally, the Standing Committee resolved to draw the government’s attention to hold the upcoming election on the scheduled date, engage in dialogue with Gen Z and other transformative forces, and take effective initiatives for practical unity with socialist alliances and like-minded political groups.
