The government is preparing to suspend the passports of several top political figures, including CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and former Energy Minister Deepak Khadka, among others.
According to government sources, the decision is based on demands for an investigation into those responsible for the suppression of the Genji movement on Bhadra 23.
A minister stated, “An investigation is necessary regarding the crackdown on the Genji movement and the suspicious cash discovered in the homes of these leaders. Therefore, preparations are underway to block their passports.”
The government is reportedly focusing its immediate inquiries on two key issues: the alleged use of force during the Genji protests and the suspicious amounts of cash found in the residences of the implicated leaders.
