Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called for amending Nepal’s constitution and governance system strictly through the constitutional process.
In her address to the nation on Thursday, PM Karki clarified that demands raised by the Gen-Ji generation—including constitutional and governance reforms—fall outside the jurisdiction of the current interim government. She urged the youth and all change-seeking citizens to participate in the upcoming elections to pursue constitutional amendments through democratic means.
“To amend Nepal’s constitution and governance system, as demanded during the Gen-Ji movement, lies beyond the mandate of the present interim government,” she said. “I call on the youth and all progressive citizens to take part in the upcoming elections and advance constitutional amendments through the proper constitutional process.”
PM Karki also announced the launch of an Integrated Business Revival Plan to support industries, businesses, and commercial establishments affected by arson and vandalism during the protests. The plan will provide relief, tax concessions, and other facilities to help businesses resume economic activities smoothly.
Additionally, she directed government employees to adapt to the aspirations of the younger generation and work to meet the expectations of the people.
