The Nepali Congress has announced that it will not hold its traditional tea reception and greetings exchange on Kojagrat Purnima this year.
Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel issued a statement informing about the cancellation.
Since 1976 (BS 2033), following the return of leader BP Koirala from exile with the policy of national unity and reconciliation, the party has organized a tea reception on Kojagrat Purnima every year to exchange festive greetings.
The statement said, “At a time when citizens across the country are grieving and our party’s central office itself has been set on fire and destroyed, there is a greater need for national unity and reconciliation among patriotic Nepalis.”
The party expressed that, given the unimaginable sorrow faced by families nationwide, the annual tea reception and greetings exchange will not be held this year.
