Continuous rainfall has caused flooding and landslides, leaving six major highways across the country blocked today. According to Nepal Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire, road sections in Sankhuwasabha, Sindhupalchok, and Rasuwa districts remain obstructed.
As of 9 AM today, DIG Ghimire reported that the Koshi Highway is fully blocked in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality–4 (Barun) of Sankhuwasabha. Similarly, in Makalu Rural Municipality–3 (Ekuwa), the Koshi Highway has also been obstructed due to heavy rainfall. Authorities noted that this section has been closed for a long period.
In Rasuwa, the road in Gosainkunda Municipality–2 remains closed due to flooding, preventing the operation of the Nepal–China border crossing. Another landslide in Tatopani, Gosainkunda Municipality–2, has blocked the Pasang Lhamu Highway, with efforts ongoing to clear the debris.
In Sindhupalchok, a landslide triggered by continuous rainfall since Sunday has blocked the Araniko Highway in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality–7 (Ekkilo). Likewise, another landslide in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality–2 (Bahrakilo) this morning has completely obstructed the Araniko Highway.
Meanwhile, the landslide near Tuiun Khola along the Narayanghat–Muglin road section has been cleared, and traffic has resumed since this morning, DIG Ghimire confirmed.
