Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended his best wishes on the occasion of Bada Dashain 2082, expressing hope that Goddess Durga will grant everyone courage and determination during these difficult times.
In his Dashain message issued today, Deuba emphasized that the constitution is the supreme law of the land and urged all stakeholders to seek solutions to the current crisis within the constitutional framework. He highlighted Nepal’s identity as a multiethnic, multireligious, multicultural, and multilingual nation, where unity amid diversity has remained the country’s greatest strength.
Paying tribute to the youths and security personnel who lost their lives during the Gen Z-led protests of September 8–9 (Bhadra 23–24), Deuba expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
He also condemned the violent incidents of September 9 (Bhadra 24), when criminal groups engaged in destructive activities, targeting the President’s Office, Singha Durbar, Parliament Building, Supreme Court, political party offices, private residences, and both public and private properties. Deuba described the loss and devastation caused by arson, looting, and vandalism as one of the most tragic and unprecedented incidents in Nepal’s history.
Reaffirming his stance, Deuba said that the historic constitution, crafted through decades of struggle, sacrifice, and the people’s mandate, remains the ultimate solution to Nepal’s political complexities, ensuring stability and progress.
He further remarked that Dashain symbolizes the victory of truth over falsehood and justice over injustice, and that it has always fostered family bonds, social harmony, mutual cooperation, and unity in Nepali society.
On behalf of the Nepali Congress and himself, Deuba extended heartfelt greetings to all Nepalis at home and abroad, wishing for peace, prosperity, and continued progress.
