Seventeen passengers were injured when a bus overturned in the Banke forest area of Ishworpur Municipality, Sarlahi, along the East-West Highway on Friday evening.
According to Rajosh Ghimire, Chief of the District Traffic Police Office, Nawalpur, Sarlahi, and Traffic Police Inspector, the bus (registration number Na 1 Kha 9494) was en route from Janakpur, the provincial capital, to Malangawa, the district headquarters of Sarlahi, when the accident occurred. Sixteen of the injured are receiving treatment at Model Hospital in Lalbandi, while one is being treated in Nawalpur.
Inspector Birendra Singh Johari of the Lalbandi Area Police Office said all the injured are in normal condition. The bus lost control and overturned amid heavy rainfall on Friday evening.
Passengers traveling along the East-West Highway and police personnel immediately carried out rescue operations. Inspector Johari added that the bus overturned only once off the road, which helped avert major damage.
