Traffic movement has resumed on the Kaligandaki Corridor, a national pride project, after being blocked since Friday evening.
According to Police Inspector Keshav Thapa of the Baglung District Police Office, a landslide at Kalakhola in Baglung Municipality–12 had completely obstructed the road from around 7:00 PM on Friday. The corridor was reopened for vehicles at around 10:00 AM today.
The blockage had cut off transportation between the district headquarters and southern Baglung. With the road now cleared, tourist vehicles heading to Mustang, as well as passenger and cargo transport from Baglung to Butwal, Bhairahawa, Sunauli, and other destinations, have resumed.
“We tried to reopen the road last night, but heavy rainfall and continuous landslides made it impossible. This morning, we used machines to clear the debris, and now stranded vehicles and passengers are on their way,” Inspector Thapa said. (RSS)
