A tragic incident occurred in Birgunj, where a father and son from Tripura, India, were found dead inside their hotel room at Hotel Shah Paradise, located at Bhanu Chowk near the new bus park.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kishor Lamsal of the District Police Office, Parsa, the deceased have been identified as 67-year-old Sajal Acharya and his 24-year-old son, Sagar Acharya. Their names were registered in the hotel entry book.
The two had been staying in room number 111 since October 5 (Ashoj 19). On Tuesday evening, when they didn’t come out for dinner until 7 PM, hotel staff went to check on them. Despite repeatedly knocking, there was no response from inside, prompting staff to look through the ventilator of the adjoining room, where they saw both individuals motionless—the father lying on the bed and the son hanging.
The hotel management immediately informed the police, who arrived at the scene. DSP Lamsal confirmed that the room was locked from inside, and due to nightfall, the door was not broken open immediately.
“The bodies are still inside the room. We will break open the door and recover them on Wednesday morning,” said Lamsal.
The Indian Consulate General Office in Birgunj has also been notified of the incident. Police said a detailed investigation will be carried out once the bodies are recovered.
