The incident site at Kailali Prison remains under the control of inmates as of now.
This morning, a team led by Chief District Officer (CDO) Gogan Hamal reached the prison premises. However, the District Security Committee team, which included heads of all security agencies, was stopped by inmates before reaching the scene and was forced to return. Following this, a security committee meeting at the District Administration Office decided to form an investigation committee.
Inside the prison, inmates have locked the main gate of the detention block from within and placed gas cylinders at the entrance, warning that they would ignite them if anyone attempted to enter.
A team from the National Human Rights Commission has also arrived at the prison, but reaching the actual site remains impossible at present.
The clash that took place last night left one person dead and 47 injured. With neither the police nor human rights officials able to access the scene, the actual situation inside has yet to be made public.
