A five-member investigation committee has been formed to look into the recent incident at Kailali Prison. On Saturday, a meeting of the District Security Committee, chaired by Chief District Officer (CDO) Gogan Bahadur Hamal, decided to establish the committee under the coordination of Assistant CDO Kiran Joshi.
The committee members include Police Inspector Rajkumar Singh from the Kailali District Police Office, Armed Police DSP Janakraj Pant, Investigation Officer Dipendra Singh from the National Investigation Department, and Administrative Officer Shivraj Joshi from the Kailali District Administration Office, according to CDO Hamal.
Speaking to Nepal News Bank, Kailali District Police Office spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajkumar Singh said that although the situation became somewhat tense after the clash, reports claiming that inmates had taken control of the prison premises were false.
He stated, “I am not aware of any confirmed information about inmates seizing control of the prison. Security personnel are performing their duties wherever necessary. There is nothing like that; the situation is currently normal.”
Among the injured, the conditions of Jagdish Rana, Ravi Chaudhary, and Ayush Bhatt are reported to be critical.
