Hamas has released the names of 20 hostages it plans to free, but the name of Nepali national Bipin Joshi is not on the list. The announcement came after Hamas agreed to a ceasefire with Israel.
According to Dhan Prasad Poudel, Nepal’s ambassador to Israel, none of the individuals to be released are Nepali. All 20 people expected to be freed by Monday are Israeli citizens, he confirmed.
The ceasefire deal, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, marks the first phase of an agreement to end the two-year-long conflict between Israel and Hamas. Under the deal, Hamas is expected to release 50 captives, both living and deceased.
The current condition of Bipin Joshi, who was captured from the Israeli city of Kibbutz, remains unclear. Ambassador Poudel stated that he is in continuous contact with Israeli authorities and is trying to gather information about Joshi’s situation. However, no concrete updates have been received so far.
Officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs have also been making efforts to locate Joshi. One ministry official said that information regarding his situation could emerge at any time and advised his family to remain prepared for any possible news.
