After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Japan scored 131 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Kendel Kadokawa-Fleming played a brilliant innings, scoring 60 runs off 46 balls. He shared an 86-run partnership for the second wicket with Islam Rahman, who contributed 31 runs off 25 balls.
Although Japan was heading toward a big total at one stage, their middle-order batters failed to capitalize, restricting them to 131 runs.
For Nepal, Gulshan Jha and Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets each, while Sompal Kami and Gulshan Jha claimed one wicket apiece.
