A video conference was held between the family members of Bipin Joshi, a student from Bhimdatta Municipality–3, Kanchanpur, who has been under Hamas captivity for the past two years, and officials from the Nepali Embassy in Israel.
During the meeting, Kishor Joshi, a family member of Bipin, said that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) informed them that Bipin’s name was not on the list of 20 hostages set to be released today.
“Bipin’s name is not on today’s release list, but Israeli officials assured us they will continue to update us,” said Joshi. “Even though he is not among those released today, we remain hopeful that he will be freed in the upcoming rounds.”
According to Kishor, the video conference took place this morning and included Israeli representatives, Bipin’s mother and sister from the United States, the Nepali Ambassador to Israel, and himself.
While reports have indicated that Bipin’s name is missing from the list of surviving hostages, his family remains optimistic that he could be released in a later phase. Over the past two years, Hamas has released more than 200 hostages during various ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreements.
Bipin’s family and the Government of Nepal have been continuously working for his safe release. His mother and sister are currently in the U.S. seeking international support for his rescue efforts, while his father, Mahananda Joshi, waits anxiously in Mahendranagar, hoping for his son’s safe return.
