The government has decided to waive various charges on airfares to attract international flights to Pokhara International Airport and Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa.
According to a press release issued on Friday by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Cabinet has decided to provide exemptions and concessions on four types of fees until the end of Bhadra 2083.
As per the decision, international flights from these airports will be exempt from the NPR 3,000 per passenger service charge and the NPR 1,000 per passenger tourism fee.
In addition, parking, landing, and navigation (communication and aviation support) charges for aircraft operating international flights from these airports will be fully waived. Ground handling service charges for such flights will be reduced by 75 percent.
According to the ministry’s assistant spokesperson, Gokarna Prasad Upadhyaya, this decision will significantly reduce the operational costs for international airlines flying to these two airports.
