Police have arrested two individuals on charges of removing bones from a burning corpse at the Aryaghat cremation site in Pashupati and handing them over to others.
According to Kathmandu District Police Range spokesperson and Superintendent of Police (SP) Kuldeep Chand, those arrested include Ganesh Dhakal, who was involved in the cremation process, and his assistant.
SP Chand said the arrests were made after the family of the deceased—identified as Ram Shahi of Banepa Municipality–9, Kavrepalanchok—reported that bones were removed from his burning body and given to another person (a tantric).
Both suspects are currently being held at the Gaushala Police Circle for questioning and further investigation.
