
Kathmandu — The Government of Nepal has made public the decisions of the recent Cabinet meeting. On Friday, government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel announced the decisions made during the Cabinet meeting held on Ashoj 30 (October 16).
The meeting decided to recall Nepal’s residential ambassadors from 11 countries, along with making 20 other key decisions.
According to the government, ambassadors from China, Germany, Israel, Malaysia, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan have been recalled.
The Cabinet also decided to accept a grant of 10 million USD from the World Bank’s Multidonor Trust Fund for the Public Financial Management Project.
Similarly, the government approved the establishment of two joint venture companies between the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and India’s Power Grid Corporation Limited to construct the Inaruwa–Purnea and Dodhara–Bareilly 400 kV cross-border transmission lines.
NEA will invest NPR 1 billion and NPR 2 billion in the two companies, respectively, as share capital, according to Minister Kharel.
The meeting also approved the bilateral treaty on mutual legal assistance between Nepal and India, and granted approval for negotiations on similar agreements with other countries as needed, through diplomatic channels.
Another major decision includes the approval of the master plan for the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground Project in Kirtipur, which has been designated as a national priority project. The government has also approved the process to invite tenders and proceed with procurement for the remaining works under the plan. Minister Kharel said the project aligns with Nepal’s recent success in cricket.
In addition, the government decided to promote Jitendra Babu Thapaliya, a first-class officer in the Nepal Judicial Service, to the special class and appoint him as Secretary of the Judicial Council.
Likewise, Uddhav Prasad Pudasaini, Acting Deputy Attorney General under the Government Attorney Service, has been promoted to special class and appointed Secretary of the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons.
