Israel has carried out airstrikes on Gaza, accusing Hamas of violating the ceasefire agreement. According to BBC reports, Israel targeted southern Gaza in the air attacks.
An Israeli military spokesperson claimed that Hamas crossed the “Yellow Line” and launched attacks against Israeli forces. The spokesperson stated that Israeli troops had recently withdrawn from the area as part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan, and Hamas carried out attacks in the designated Yellow Line zone.
In a post on social media platform X on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, “This morning, terrorists fired an anti-tank missile and opened fire on Israeli soldiers stationed in the Rafah area of southern Gaza.”
In response, the IDF said it launched attacks to destroy tunnels and other military structures used for terrorist activities in the region.
“This terrorist activity is a severe violation of the ceasefire agreement, and the IDF will respond,” the Israeli military stated.
However, Hamas reacted by saying that it remains committed to the ceasefire agreement and accused Israel of violating the terms of the truce.
Under President Donald Trump’s peace plan, the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into effect on October 10. As part of the agreement, Hamas has released living hostages under its control, and Israel has also been releasing Palestinian prisoners.
