A landslide has obstructed the Mid-Hill Highway at Chyasmittar in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-3, Khotang. The road was completely blocked after the landslide struck around 9 a.m. on Monday.
According to Khotang District Police Office, continuous rainfall triggered the slide from about 100 meters above the road, covering a 10-meter section of the highway. The same landslide also buried about 20 meters of the Damli–Dikuwa rural dirt road, completely halting traffic.
Police further reported that persistent rain has caused multiple landslides along the Diktel–Jayaramghat section of the Mid-Hill Highway, increasing road blockages. Authorities have urged travelers to remain cautious, check weather conditions, and contact relevant agencies before traveling.
Heavy rainfall has also left most rural roads across the district impassable.
