The body of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi, who was killed while being held hostage by Hamas, has been taken to Dhangadhi.
His body was brought to Tribhuvan International Airport today via a Fly Dubai flight. During a special ceremony at the airport, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, ministers, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other high-ranking dignitaries paid tribute to Joshi.
Immediately after the ceremony, his body was airlifted to Dhangadhi by a Nepal Army Skytruck aircraft. From there, a local unit of the Nepal Army will transport the body to his home in Bhimdatta Municipality, Kanchanpur.
His final rites will be performed on Tuesday.
Bipin was abducted by Hamas from Kibbutz Alumim on October 10, 2023 (Ashoj 23, 2080 BS). A short video of him alive for some time after being taken hostage was made public a few days ago.
After the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, Hamas handed over his body to the Israeli Army during a hostage exchange. Following DNA verification, confirming it was Bipin’s body, it was brought back to Nepal.
