An unfortunate incident occurred in Thali, Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-5, Kathmandu, where a father attacked his own son and daughter-in-law with a khukuri following a domestic dispute.
According to SP Pawan Bhattarai of District Police Range Kathmandu, 53-year-old Bishnu Upreti attacked his 32-year-old son Rubis Upreti and daughter-in-law Manita Bhandari at around 7:30 AM today. The couple had recently arrived in Kathmandu from the United States to celebrate Dashain.
Police reports suggest that Bishnu Upreti attacked them in a fit of anger, allegedly because his son did not listen to him. Rubis sustained deep injuries to his arm and leg, while Manita suffered injuries to her fingers. Both of them are currently undergoing treatment at Grande Hospital.
Police have arrested Bishnu Upreti following the incident, and further investigation is underway. Rubis and Manita had only arrived in Nepal a few days ago to celebrate the festival with family.
