The Nepal national women’s football team will begin their campaign today in the ongoing Tri-Nation International Football Tournament in India by playing their first match against Iran.
The match will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong, India, and will kick off at 6:15 PM Nepal time.
Led by captain Sabitri Bhandari, Nepal aims to start the tournament on a positive note with a victory over Iran. However, Iran will also be looking to continue their winning momentum, as they defeated host nation India 2–0 in their opening match.
The last encounter between Nepal and Iran took place in 2019 during the Hero Women’s Cup at the Kalinga Stadium in India, where Nepal emerged victorious. In the current FIFA Women’s World Rankings, Iran is ranked 70th, while Nepal stands at 89th.
