
The death toll from a road accident in Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-3, Jaluwa Tol, Sunsari, has risen to four. The collision occurred today on the East–West Highway between a bus and a microbus.
According to Sunsari Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yogaraj Khatri, the deceased have been identified as Shankar Mandal, 35, of Mahadeva Rural Municipality-6, Saptari; Laxman Sada, 70, of Koshi Rural Municipality-6; and Ashok Yadav, 40, of Biratnagar-10, Morang. Another victim, a woman estimated to be 45–50 years old, has yet to be identified.
The accident took place when a bus (Me 1 Kha 1799) traveling from Kakarbhitta to Diktel, Khotang, collided head-on with a microbus (Province 2-01-001 Ja 0047) coming from the opposite direction.
The microbus was carrying 18 passengers, two of whom died in the crash. Several injured passengers are receiving treatment at the Global Cardio and Neuro Hospital in Bhokraha, Sunsari, while others are being treated at Golden Hospital in Biratnagar.
Police have taken the bus driver, Gopal Adhikari, 36, of Arjundhara Municipality-1, Jhapa, into custody.
