Real Madrid secured victory in the El Clásico, defeating arch-rivals Barcelona 2–1 in a thrilling encounter.
In the match held on Sunday night at the Santiago Bernabéu, goals from Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham sealed the win for Real Madrid. Mbappé scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute. Although Barcelona’s Fermín López equalized in the 39th minute, Bellingham scored the decisive goal in the 43rd minute from close range. The goal came after Militão headed Vinícius Junior’s cross into Bellingham’s path.
In the 52nd minute, Real Madrid missed a chance to extend their lead when Mbappé’s penalty was saved by Barcelona’s goalkeeper. Earlier, Mbappé’s goal in the 12th minute had been disallowed after a VAR check. Barcelona finished the match with 10 players as Perdi received a second yellow card in the 10th minute of injury time.
This was the first El Clásico of the season and the excitement lasted from start to finish. Some tension also arose between players of both teams after the final whistle.
With the win, Real Madrid top the table with 27 points, now leading second-placed Barcelona by 5 points.
