A father has allegedly shot and killed his own son in Miklajung Rural Municipality–8, Durdimba of Panchthar district.
According to police, 52-year-old Bakhatsingh Singhak Limbu of Bhadoure, Miklajung-8, shot his 17-year-old son, Safal Singhak, with a homemade gun. Police said Bakhatsingh, who was under the influence of alcohol, fired the gun at his son from about 100 meters away in a field behind their house at around 3:20 pm on Sunday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anish Kumar Karna of Panchthar District Police Office said Safal died on the spot after being shot in the right shoulder, temple, and chest.
Police have arrested Bakhatsingh along with the homemade firearm used in the crime. The body of the deceased has been sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan for postmortem. Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
