Kathmandu Valley Police have launched a “Sweep Operation” to recover weapons looted during the Gen-Z protests. The operation began on Sunday, according to AIG Dan Bahadur Karki, Chief of Kathmandu Valley Police.
“This is a coordinated security operation conducted to locate sensitive security materials, looted weapons, and individuals involved,” AIG Karki said.
As part of the operation, police conducted searches at various locations in Kathmandu on Sunday. Sweep operations were carried out at:
- Block ‘B’ of Sampada Boys Hostel in Subidhanagar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–32
- Block ‘A’ at Prayag Marg, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–31
During the search, police recovered items hidden in a store room inside the compound of Block ‘A’. The seized materials include:
- Two pairs of handcuffs
- One APF body protector with stick
- One police baton
- One hard disk
Police arrested 24-year-old Govinda Kumar Thakur, a native of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City–7, Dhanusha, and currently a warden of Block ‘A’ Hostel at Prayag Marg, on charges of looting the items.
