Prime Minister Sushila Karki visited Kamal Pokhari in Kathmandu to offer prayers to Chhath Mai. On Monday, the main day of the Chhath festival, Prime Minister Karki performed worship rituals and offered argha (ritual offering) to the setting sun at Kamal Pokhari.
Chhath, a centuries-old festival dedicated to the worship of the Sun God, is celebrated as a multicultural, multi-religious, and multi-ethnic festival in Nepal and India. As part of the festival tradition, offerings are made to the setting sun on the first day of puja, followed by offerings to the rising sun the next morning.
For the past nine years, a special event has been organized at Kamal Pokhari on the occasion of Chhath festival, attracting a large number of devotees.
